Should you use an elbow strap?

Updated: Apr 13, 2024

With the fall squash season in full swing (pun intended), there has been an influx of individuals coming in with elbow pain. Tennis elbow is a common overuse injury that occurs when forearm muscles are repeatedly overloaded during sport. For racquet sport athletes, this injury often results in lingering elbow pain that necessitates an individualized physiotherapy treatment plan.

Tennis elbow straps can be an effective short-term tool to modify pain by reducing the forces transmitted through the elbow when swinging a racquet. While bracing can help keep you on the court, underlying elbow tendon pain will persist without progressive forearm muscle strength training. Visit your local physiotherapist to learn more about how to recover your power stroke and level up your racquet game.
